April 15th, Röszke/Horgos border crossing The Hungarian state continues to take an especially visible role in the deathly puzzly of Fortress Europe, guarding capitalist means of production in white hands. As the latest piece in the puzzle on March 15th the state passed legal changes on March 15th which mean that ALL people seeking asylum will be detained in prison-containers at the Hungarian-Serbian border. It also means that the only place to apply for asylum is in the two transit zone-prions at the border, where only 10 people per day can enter. Everybody who enters the country through other parts of the fence -- proud private property of the Hungarian state-- can be pushed back from the whole territory of Hungary to the Serbian side of the fence again. The push-backs, which are nothing less than legalized state violence, are already happening since the fence was built in September 2015. Day for day people get beaten up, humiliated, attacked with dogs and robbed by the police in their attempts to cross the border. Without even the need for masking, the special unit of the police in charge of this violence is called the border hunter unit. 2 months of ‘training’ are enough to be equipped with weapons and sent to the borders, with the licence to protect white supremacy, at the frontiers of fascist Europe. NO to the prisons guarding white Europe! NO to the web of violence and militarized borders! No to the criminalization of migration! NO to the legalization and normalization of fascist politics! PROTEST on the 15th of April on the Hungarian side of the border, at the Röszke/Horgos border crossing! Érzékeljük-e ennek a súlyát? Az őrület normalizált. After invitations from collectives in Zürich, Bern (CH) and Freiburg (GER), activists of the campaign held public infotalks about the cases of Röszke11, the solidarity campaign and the general situation in Hungary.
These pictures show the infotalk in Freiburg, which was part of the local activities related to the International Weeks against Racism. During the talk an interview was made with H., one of the Röszke11 (who was also presenting on this occasion) and an Hungarian activist (in German only). Listen to the radio report here
The second level court hearing and verdict of the 10 Röszke accused –Protest trial in Budapest2/3/2017
Budapest, March 2nd, 2017
On February 28th 2017 the second level court hearing against ten of the Röszke 11 – all but Ahmed H., who was sentenced to ten years of prison in a separate trial – was held in Szeged. The only person remaining in Hungarian custody and therefore present at the court hearing was Yamen A. The other nine people have left Hungary some month ago and claimed asylum in other European countries. Albeit two of them left Europe under the “voluntary return” act due to the immense pressure imposed on them and the threat to deport them back to Hungary under the Dublin Regulation.
Utcai ítélet flashmob - az állam bíróság előtt terrorizmus vádjával Street justice flashmob - the state is on trial for terrorism Február 28-án 18.30-kor összegyűlünk a Mikszáth Kálmán téren, hogy bűntettei miatt a magyar államot bíróság elé állítsuk. Ugyanezen a napon fog a másodfokú bíróság döntést hozni a röszkei 11 egyike, Yamen A. ügyében, akit a bíróság elsőfokon három év börtönbüntetésre ítélt. [english] On the 28th of February at 18:30 we will gather on Mikszáth Kálmán Tér to put the Hungarian state on trial for its criminal deeds! In 2015 this state has violently and arbitrarily imprisoned 11 people who were seeking safety for themselves and their families. It accused them with outrageous and unjustified charges of terrorism and mass riot in absurd, spectacular show trials; the so-called ‘Röszke trials’. It will be the day on which Yamen, one of the ‘Röszke 11’, will receive his court sentence. We will therefore come together to put the state itself on trial and pass judgment on its actions. As this state has made a spectacle of the judgement of others we will make a spectacle of the revelation of its crimes! We will hear testimonies, review the evidence and decide whether it is the people or the state who is at fault. FREEDOM FOR YAMEN A. ! PRISON INSTEAD OF UNIVERSITY? [english below]
Yamen A. 21 éves. Egyetemi tanulmányait derékba törte a szíriai háború. Két nap elteltével a tömeg békés demonstrációba kezdett. Egyetlen kívánságuk a Magyarországon való áthaladás volt. A magyar hatóság válaszként a TEK bevetése mellett döntött. 2015. szeptember 16-án a családbarát, keresztény Orbán-kormány a menekült gyerekeknek, nőknek, apáknak, nagyszülőknek, szétszakadt családok férfi- és nőtagjainak könnygázzal és vízágyúval adott ízelítőt felebaráti szeretetből. Ahmed H. was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment because of "terrorism" in November. On the 28th of February there will be a second level court trial about the other ten of the Rözske 11, who had their first verdict July last year. From these 10 people only Yamen A. is still in prison in Hungary. The other 9 people finished their sentence and left Hungary. „People should know about and feel our suffering of the past years“ - Interview with Kamel27/1/2017
Finally! Kamel, one of the Röszke 11, was the last one to be released from a closed camp in Hungary and was able to make his way to Austria. There, he could join his family again, from which he was separated for almost one and a half years. We are very happy about this news and continue to demand: Freedom for the last two of the Röszke 11 who are still in prison, Yamen and Ahmed! Freedom for all other prisoners of the European border system! Freedom of Movement for All! „We are refugees and we were put in prison. Why? We were fleeing war. What is this Europe? We fled from one death trap to the next!“ Read the full interview with Kamel and B., his wife, which was conducted by individuals of the Free the Röszke 11 campaign... |
