FREEDOM FOR YAMEN A. ! PRISON INSTEAD OF UNIVERSITY? [english below]
Yamen A. 21 éves. Egyetemi tanulmányait derékba törte a szíriai háború. Nem akart
katonaként részt venni az öldöklésben, így egy év pszichológia szak elvégzése után
menekülnie kellett. 2015. szeptemberében ért a röszkei határon frissen felhúzott
kerítéshez, ahol több ezer hasonló sorsú emberrel várta, hogy végre biztonságos
országba érjen. Két nap elteltével a tömeg békés demonstrációba kezdett. Egyetlen
kívánságuk a Magyarországon való áthaladás volt. A magyar hatóság válaszként a
TEK bevetése mellett döntött. 2015. szeptember 16-án a családbarát, keresztény
Orbán-kormány a menekült gyerekeknek, nőknek, apáknak, nagyszülőknek,
szétszakadt családok férfi- és nőtagjainak könnygázzal és vízágyúval adott ízelítőt
Ahmed H. was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment because of "terrorism" in November. On the 28th of February there will be a second level court trial about the other ten of the Rözske 11, who had their first verdict July last year. From these 10 people only Yamen A. is still in prison in Hungary. The other 9 people finished their sentence and left Hungary.
Finally! Kamel, one of the Röszke 11, was the last one to be released from a closed camp in Hungary and was able to make his way to Austria. There, he could join his family again, from which he was separated for almost one and a half years. We are very happy about this news and continue to demand: Freedom for the last two of the Röszke 11 who are still in prison, Yamen and Ahmed! Freedom for all other prisoners of the European border system! Freedom of Movement for All!
„We are refugees and we were put in prison. Why?
We were fleeing war. What is this Europe? We fled from one death trap to the next!“
Read the full interview with Kamel and B., his wife, which was conducted by individuals of the Free the Röszke 11 campaign...
Yamen A. is one of the Röszke eleven, who was sentenced to 3 years in the beginning of July last year. Since then he is in isolation imprisoned in Szeged. Yamen got 3 years prison sentence in this fabricated racist court trial, in which all the evidences defense lawyers tried to present were simply dismissed and the only witnesses were police officers. The reason why he was sentenced to greater punishment than the other 9 accused is that Yamen was talking 10 minutes to a megaphone on the 16th of September when thousands of people were protesting for the freedom of movement.
Around 250 people joined the demonstration in Budapest and stood up against the racist court decision and the terror of Fortress Europe! The noise of solidarity overshadowed the streets, Budapest was in uproar. Freedom for Ahmed! Long live the antifascist struggle!
On Wednesday, Ahmed H., was sentenced after a series of extremely biased trial hearing to 10 years of prison for “terrorism” and “illegal border crossing” in the court of Szeged.
Freedom for Ahmed H.!
+++Demonstration in Budapest, December 3rd, 4pm, Blaha Lujza tér
+++Tüntetés Budapesten december 3-án 4 órakor a Blaha Lujza téren
Meet the organised terrorist organization: The Hungarian State!
With it's confused riot polices who were giving contradictory statements even with ownselves!
With it's prosecutor who seemed yesterday the only confident witness of the last year's event!
And the awkward scum guards of the state who are considered as "independent"!
Yes, we are talking about the judge who got the order from her masters to punish Ahmed! She didn't need any legal knowledge or experience but her dishonor to make out the 10 years from one megaphone, one beard, one muslim identity and from some re-modified prewritten police testimonials!
We are sad and angry! But not surprised! When they refused the applications of our friends to become visitors for Ahmed, we have realised that there is a bigger monster behind this trial! Ahmed is totally isolated more than a year. Away from any friendly contact, one hour of meeting in every month is even refused!
Ahmed will be free at the end, there is no doubt about this.
But the chains around his feet should not be forgotten!
NO JUSTICE ON THE COURT, LET'S SHOW OUR RAGE
AND SOLIDARITY ON THE STREETS!
Join the demonstration on Saturday (03.12.)!
16.00 at Blaha Lujza tér, Budapest
30. November 2016: Szeged: Protest in front of the court house where Ahmed H.’s last court hearing takes places
03. December 2016: Budapest: Transnational Demonstration against the Show Trial of Ahmed H.
“Terrorism“ has become a tool to legitimize everything the state is doing, it is used to silence every opposition - against border regime, capitalism or the control over our lives. The Röszke trial is revealing the reality of a system in which state and police violence is never put in question. This goes hand in hand with increasing fascism, creating fear and thus establishing a framework of
racism and repression. Nonetheless this setting expands well beyond Hungary: Hungary cannot be
seen as the most “evil“ EU-state, but only as a part of the EUropean fences-and-prisons-system that criminalises free movement of people just as it criminalises solidarity.
So far the Röszke-Trials and especially Ahmed's case have not raised much attention in Europe even though solidarity movements have tried to spread the word. So now, let's unite our voices against racism and repression! Join the Demos in Szeged and Budapest to show solidarity!
We demand the immediate release of the still imprisoned Kamel J., Yamen A. and Ahmed H. Lets show strengths against the racist politics of Fortress Europe!
Freedom for Ahmed. H., Kamel J. and Yamen A.! Freedom of Movement for All!
Court hearing 28th of October, Szeged
Again the "dangerous criminal's look" was applied, Ahmed was brought to the court with chains on his feet and hand and with two masked (anti)-terror police.
Even there was enough space in the court-room, the guards refused to let enter the representative of Amnesty International. Later because the AI has registered, the judge allowed them. A guarded barricade was installed on the corridor of the court (in case protesters would show up) to prevent everybody from having even eye contact with Ahmed in the break. Still, some people are allowed to enter and monitor the trial.
The hearing started with the same speech, which explains that Ahmed was the 'leader" of the group, because "migrants gave him a pillow and food". The other disgusting part of the summary states the connection Ahmed had with "extremist Islamic organizations" and the proof for it is that he visited Saudi Arabia and India.
It seems the judge does not know that every year millions of Muslims go to Mecca for Haj. The defense lawyer intervened with claiming that this is ridiculous, it's like stating that all Christians who visit the Vatican are extremists.
Again the only thing what was read in the court was about the injuries of the police and how police cars were scratched during the "riot" (nothing related to Ahmed).
The defense lawyer gave a list of 25 witnesses (activist and journalists), asked them to be listened, and to postpone the trial.
After a short break at 11:00, the judge refused all the witnesses without any explanation, the only person who is accepted to be listened on the next hearing is a Hungarian policeman. The trial is postponed for the 30th of November.
The same day demonstrations with the demand of the immediate freedom of Ahmed, Yamen, Farouk and Kamel were organized in Berlin and Budapest.
